How to shape your outer world before it shapes you

Here is a an interesting article. It’s worth reading. Specially for those who wants to avoid toxic people in their lives. Like me, who easily get stressed by them. Those who does nothing but to make life miserable not only for themselves but, sadly, for others too. As the book of life says, "Avoid people who are vexations to your souls."

Too good to be true

September 18th, 2007 by bongkate07

One of the things that I’ve learned from surfing the internet and hoping to find some home-based job that will help me find my ever-elusive "financial freedom" is not to fall prey to a too-good-to-be-true-one-day-millionaire-promising-you-instant-cash work. Here is an interesting article I’ve found while I was digging for some home-based job.

A friend of mine, once, said that everything on the Internet is a scam or full of lies. Well, in my case, I’ve yet to encounter one. Wherein I’ve lost even just a single centavo. Thank God! I’m too cheapskate for my own good. Hehe. It helps to remember that "if it’s too good to be true, then it is a scam!"

a good start

i’ve just found the right savings plan for my kids. the tuition savings plan of Metrobank. do i sound like i’m advertising? hehe. no. i’m just excited because we just started saving for them. anyway, i figured out that saving up P74/day for their educational needs won’t put a hole in our pockets. this will be for five years and after that the interest payout will occur in five years. and not only that, it’s refundable too but i hope to be a disciplined saver.

previously, i applied for a gold Philam plan for my eldest daughter but we have stopped contributing to it because it’s eating up all of our money. it was unplanned and we failed to consider if our budget would allow it. we have already conributed almost 10% of the pre-need plan. it was unrefundable because the policy requires more than 20% of the pre-need plan to be contributed first. darn, what a wrong move. anyway, we learn from our mistakes right? the moral of the story think 100 times before venturing into investments specially involving money.

a good article

Conquering Depression
Be at rest… O my soul, for the Lord has been good to you.
Psalm 116:7 NIV
When you’re depressed your motivation is drained, your desire to pursue God is gone, your conversations turn sour, you’re blinded to your blessings, your enthusiasm is forced, you’re in a daze regarding future plans. What’s the way out?
Find the cause of your depression! Unconfessed sin is like a stone in your shoe. Get it out! No holiday, job change, relationship change or doctor will heal it: "… your sins have cut you off from God" (Isaiah 59:2 NLT).
Greed can depress you too. King Ahab’s obsession with Naboth’s vineyard affected his entire family: "He who is greedy for gain troubles his own house" (Proverbs 15:27). Constantly comparing yourself to others can also depress you. So can finding fault. "Whoever guards his mouth and tongue keeps his soul from troubles" (Proverbs 21:23). So can an unforgiving attitude. Fatigue is also a major cause. One U.S. President refused to make
important decisions at the end of the day, insisting that rest was
necessary to exercising good judgment. As great as their assignment was, Jesus often called His disciples aside to rest. He knew that when fatigue walks in, faith walks out. So how can you conquer depression? (a) Through prayer! Oswald J. Smith said that the happiest moments of his life were during prayer and Bible reading.
He called this his ‘morning watch.’ He also said praying aloud prevented his thoughts from wandering. (b) Through God’s Word! Jeremiah said, "When Your words came, I ate them; they were my joy and my heart’s delight" (Jeremiah 15:16 NIV). Daily prayer and the reading of God’s Word is a prescription that can help heal your emotions and lift your depression. Try it!

Mark 4:1-12
Psalm 119:17-24

prevention is worth a pound of cure

August 14th, 2007 by bongkate07

i haven’t eaten much of my lunch today. it was nilagang pata. puro taba yaikks! bakit un pa kase ang inorder ko? e kanina kadadaan q palang sa kamag-anak namin natigok dahil sa traydor na sakit na atake sa puso na yan! sabi nga ng tita ko, "ganyan talaga ang buhay parang life!" but those kind of sickness can be prevented right? i think so? if you’ll just watch over your diet. even if it can be hereditary. all the more you should be careful on what you eat. i remembered a 13-year old kid died of a heart attack. gosh! his parents must have smothered him with all of the fats and lard they can get since he was a baby. that’s why i’m always reminding bong not to always give yssa all the sweets, fats, junk foods, sodas and what have you. come to think of it, i’m forgetting my oatmeal routine in the morning, gonna grab me some oatmeal later. i’m really starting to get conscious of my diet now that i’m not getting any younger and any thinner. hehe. the moral of the story is prevention is worth a pound of cure and delays your trip to eternity.

why is it so hard to forgive?

August 14th, 2007 by bongkate07

can anybody help me on this? even if we have talked about the conflict and sorted things out, still, for me it’s not yet finished. maybe because you didn’t expect that person to hurt you that way. of all people. you didn’t expect her to utter those "rude" remarks and "uncalled for" words, by the way, on A FRIENDSTER bulletin. i don’t mean to repeat the mistake. but even if she already apologized, the damage has been done. the friendship is ruined. i can’t even talk to her even if her ym appears to be online. it’s not the PERSON, it’s the ACT. i can forgive her but not the ACT. is that possible? have i done something to hurt her BIG time? just a little honest-to-goodness remark on a text message can make someone swear your soul to HELL. ok, i’m overexaggerating a little bit. well, let’s just say it was really my intention to pissed her that day, which is not my kind of thing, by sending her "hate" remarks on my status msg. still, do we deserve to be degraded and embarassed on a public forum? i therefore conclude that maybe because of the seriousness of the ACT and the closeness of that PERSON in our family makes it more difficult for me to forgive.

Fast Rewind - Adi’s birth

June 28th, 2007 by bongkate07

Fast-Rewind..

Due to the insistent demand of my Mother and Brother na ma-induce ako para makita nila ang bagong baby kase they were going back to the States na after a month-long vacation last March, another baby was born on April 5, 2007 sa Jephte Peter Hospital ng Tita Rose ko, who is my ever-helpful and loving obygynecologist (bola! hehe). Her name is Kirsten Addie. She was heavier than Yssa who was born on December 5 also - of the year 2005. She has more hair than Yssa. Hehe. But still they have the receding hairline of their father. Hehe. That- you can’t deny.

As I’ve said, she is my look-a-like. Obvious ba? Sa korte pa lang ng nguso at pagka-sharp ng mga features niya. May magtatanong pa ba?

I’ll just give the details, on my next blog..But here is the quick summary of my delivery..

We have it on video - the delivery. The comedy-and-drama-filled action video. It was hilarious at first because of the three stooges (Tita Rose (obgyne), Lyn (nurse but actually a licensed med tech) and Kae (student nurse) hehe.. but later on after several brouhahas and dramas.. Tita Kat was crying and clapping na and saying, "Ayan na ang baby!" My mother, who was in the corner praying for my safe delivery, joined my Tita in her crying moments. The healthy baby was born at 3:07 in the morning. This was harder than my first delivery. Maybe because madaming nag-ch-cheer sa akin at naguguluhan ang beauty ko! Iyong kay Yssa naman kase it was only me and Bong at talagang parang nagmemeditate ako habang naglalabor. But that’s another story. And again..may video kami nun. Medyo censored lang. Hehe.
